At Tarpon Shores Dental, we know that if we’re going to provide the highest-quality dental care possible, we need to have the right instruments. That’s why Dr. Thompson makes it a point that our facility is always extremely up to date. With the technology detailed below, we’re able to provide care that is consistently accurate, effective, and comfortable for every single patient. Our advanced tools even help us better explain our care so our patients can understand and feel more comfortable about their dental experience.
Our intraoral cameras give our patients the ability to do something they never could in the past: actually SEE what their dentist is talking about! This small, pen-sized camera can be easily maneuvered through the mouth to capture high-resolution images of the teeth and gums we can then display on a nearby monitor. These will not only make it easier for our team to examine your mouth, but they will also enable us to show you rather than just tell you why you might need a certain treatment.
Dental impressions have finally joined the 21st century! At Tarpon Shores Dental, they no longer consist of a patient biting into messy, odd-tasting dental putty that causes many to gag. Instead, a small, handheld device is used to capture dozens of unique images of the teeth that are then “stitched” together by software to create a fully digital 3D impression. This process is not only faster and more comfortable than the old one, but it also yields a much higher quality impression as well!
Tarpon Shores Dental is proud to have been the first practice in Venice County to offer digital X-rays. Compared to traditional dental X-rays, they create images much faster, don’t require harsh chemicals to be developed, and they emit up to 90% LESS radiation. Plus, we can easily display the images on a chairside monitor for you to go over and understand with your dentist. They can even be sent and stored instantly to make filing for insurance claims a breeze.
The future is NOW! With our soft tissue laser, we can instantly remove harmful bacteria from below the gum line, effectively remove infected tissue, and provide painless gum lifts for patients dealing with a “gummy” smile. The laser itself creates very little heat, noise, or vibration, plus it helps reduce any swelling or bleeding a patient would experience during a traditional periodontal (gum) procedure. The end result? A quick, easy treatment and a happy patient every time!
Does going to the dentist make you feel a bit nervous? Has this prevented you from visiting the dentist for years at a time? If so, we completely understand, and we’re happy to provide sedation dentistry to help calm stress-filled minds and protect patients from discomfort. These techniques are safe, effective, and we use them to help our patients overcome their dental fears every single day.
